SOUTH AFRICA #57
BOW & RIFLE
This South African PH and Safari operator has become a
trusted friend of Butch's, and has been to our headquarters
in Cheyenne, and has worked out some very special pricing
for our clients. He is a superb PH and an even better
gentleman. If you hunt with him, you will leave Africa feeling
you left a very good friend behind! Every client we have sent
him sings his praises. Only one party at a time ensures the
best of everything.
He is willing, pleasant, goes far out of his way to insure you
have a grand experience, and he is an absolutely superb rifle
shot to boot. He also caters to families, including making
special arrangements to keep non-hunters happy with sight-
seeing and similar adventures. We have personally hunted
with him, and think very highly of his entire operation, which
just gets better every year, one of the best in Africa. This PH
has a variety of concessions all over South Africa, from the
Free State to the East Cape, from the lowveld to the
bushveld, from Zululand to the border of Zimbabwe. Each
concession offers its own virtues. One concession in 2002
produced 3 kudu over 60 inches! His base concession is
called Lebensraum. It is an incredible facility - huge game
room, great mounts, outdoor lapa, wild antelope in the front
yard! And this concession has two of the Big Five: Cape
Buffalo and Rhino! That alone makes it unique. Most South
Africa safari areas have only plains game - none of the
dangerous game. We think seeing these other two critters
will add greatly to your enjoyment! You will also see giraffes
here as well. The result is a total African experience.
Normally 90% or more of the animals harvested will make SCI
book! He has taken several number ones as well, in addition
to excellent game populations. Pricing varies slightly from
concession to concession. He is also an archer, and
welcomes archers to his facilities.
A recent bow hunting client said this: “Right from the start it
was clear this Safari Company had a bow hunting game plan,
and offered the kind of service even the most discriminating
of hunters (and their spouses) would be happy with. A bit of
bow hunting paradise… they did a lot of scouting and we
were the only hunter in camp – which is their policy!”
A recent 2008 rifle client, Delery G. said this. “ Butch, he is
probably, and without a doubt, the finest outfitter I have ever
had the pleasure to meet and hunt with. I have hunted
allover, on many guided hunts, and this PH of yours is hands
down, the finest I have ever known.”

HUNT # 13: SOUTH AFRICA
EAST CAPE
This hunt takes place on the East Cape of South Africa. We
were told some wondrous stories about this operation by
some clients and we put together an inspection hunt along
with several of our clients. When they left, the PH called
Butch and said he was glad they left while there was still
some game left in Africa! Our consultant, Bill and the two
clients had an incredible hunt. Butch's client Chris N., took
what looks like the new #4 SCI bushbuck. Truly exceptional
impala from 25 to nearly 27 were taken; a nice caracal cat was
harvested with a bow over over some dogs;they were 100%
on East Cape Kudu; took some excellent black and blue
wildebeests; springbuck; Gemsbuck to 40” took some
excellent black and blue wildebeests; springbuck; Gemsbuck
to 40” the list goes on and on. This area is a huge one, nearly
100,000 acres. A mix of rocky and mountainous areas
interspersed with thorn brush valleys and open grassy plains.
The hunt takes place near Port Elizabeth and the area offers
all the species the East Cape is known for. Normally spot and
stalk. You stay in a comfortable African ranch style home with
your own private room and bath. A comfortable outside lapa
area (campfire area) to sit and swap tales and sip drinks; a
large garden and swimming pool, all surrounded by
mountains. Food was outstanding, and one of the guys gained
10 pounds in 7 days! Great salads, huge desserts. The PH's
wife will take non-hunting spouses for interesting side trips
to Port Elizabeth and to various scenic and game viewing
areas as well. This outfit is 100% on their kudu, and other PH's
come from all over to hunt their huge impala. This is a true
hunt in every sense and they take some awesome bushbucks!

HUNT # 6: SOUTH AFRICA
EAST CAPE- GUN & BOW
The East Cape of South Africa has been a premiere safari
destination for many years. A primary reason for that is the
area has 5 of Africa’s 7 known biomes ( bio-geographic
regions) –all in this one province! That means a tremendous
habitat diversity, which translates into highly varied
geography and plant life, and a huge variety of animals and
birds. This Professional Hunter, besides his own ground--
hunts 19 other concessions totaling many tens of thousands
of acres, virtually guaranteeing that you will find every
species of plains game your heart desires! In addition the
area has much scenic beauty and many parks and other
things to see and enjoy. It is a wonderful safari destination.
So you have a great area, a great diversity of game and
terrain—and we have secured you some incredible pricing on
top of that!! The list of species is awesome!
Add to that superb accommodations and a great deck
overlooking a scenic African valley, throw in excellent
cuisine; add a warm and caring staff, then top it off with a
huge variety of African plains game at unbelievable prices
and values. In fact, if you can put a group together, he will
give you some free animals!
RIFLE AND BOW HUNTING:
He gun hunts many tens of thousands of acres, and does as
much bow hunting as he does gun hunting! He now has 6 bow
hunting areas of 38,000 acres-- where he allows ONLY bow
hunting. They had about 91 bow hunting clients in 2007---
taking 411 animals!! That is a great average of nearly 5
animals per hunter!! They have pit blinds at water holes and
their vegetation is excellent for walk & stalk hunts. Either
blind or walking will work. Tree stands because of the
vegetation are not used. This outfit knows bow hunting!!! And
they handle just as many rifle hunters, if not more! He also
has access to an incredible variety of entertainment .
Elephant rides; game parks, theme parks, shopping centers-
the list is long-just ask us! Great for non-hunters!!

Here is review from one 2007 client:
“ There were three of us hunting and each hunter had an observer. Each hunter was successful
the first day. This success continued. Our group got 27 very nice trophies including Waterbuck,
Nyala, Kudu, Gemsbok, Blue Wildebeest, Eland, Blesbuck and many, many more. My two friend's
wives even got into the act, taking a very nice Kudu and White Blesbuck. My White Blesbuck wet
measured very high in SCI. We could not have been this successful without the knowledge and
skill of our Professional Hunters. They were fantastic - able to spot game and quickly evaluate the
trophy quality at long distances. Their skill in stalking game was extraordinary. It was clear they
liked what they were doing and wanted us to do well. My Professional Hunter brought out the very
best in me. We became a team very quickly. He included my 20 year old daughter in all of our
activities. She had a great time and wants to return with me.”
In terms of game available, he has 32 species for you to choose from, ranging from giant eland to
cape grysbuck, from klipspringer to Kudu, from Oribi to Lechwe. We have negotiated a variety of
packages, and you may add other animals to a package, you just need to ask!
All the packages shown below include all your lodging; all meals; your DAILY laundry service; your
PH and his support team of trackers and skinners; field preparation of all trophies; all government
and VAT taxes (often an extra); and round trip pickup and return from Port Elizabeth Airport (also
usually an extra!!). Those two items alone save your probably $500 to $900!! Contact us for the full
writeup!
NOTICE: All prices below must be increased by 5% as of June 1, 2009 due to rand/dollar changes.
